Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support is a new initiative to Rivergums Primary School. It focuses on creating a positive school culture and implementing a whole school behaviour matrix with a consistent approach to behaviour and expectations. Click here to view our PBS Launch Video.

At Rivergums Primary School we expect our students and staff to be:
* Respectful
* Responsible
* Resilient
* Persistent

The PBS framework is modelled on teaching positive behaviours, meaning that teachers will explicitly demonstrate to the students how to follow the expectations using role play and visual cues.

Students’ positive behaviour is recognised through Faction Tokens which have the four expectations listed. The students circle the expectation that they receive the faction token for and place it in their class ballot box. These faction tokens are collected and counted by the PBS Student Councillors and totals are presented at the assembly to show how each faction is progressing. The factions are rewarded as they work their way up the thermometer. This term factions can earn an icy pole, extra lunch time and minute-to-win-it games sessions.

Rivergums Students will receive an honour certificate for displaying the four behaviours – for being respectful, being responsible, being respectful, being persistent. Students will also receive a wristband, sticker and pencil. Students are encouraged to wear these wristbands with pride at school.
