At Rivergums Primary School we offer a range of services for students, as part of our whole school vision for a safe and caring learning environment.
We encourage students to take up the benefits of these valuable resources and programs including:
- Health and medical assistance
- SDERA (School Drug Education and Road Aware)
- Morning Meeting
Through providing these programs and services, we aim to maximise students’ ability to deal with demands and pressures and to get the most from their schooling experience.
Mental Health, Wellbeing and Social and Emotional Intelligence are central to experiencing success as a learner. Research shows that children who have a positive view of themselves experience academic success.
School psychology services focus on student engagement and wellbeing for learning.
Effective school psychology service delivery includes a combination of:
- system services, for example:
- incident management planning and response
- working with school leaders towards school improvement
- embedding evidence-based approaches to universal wellbeing promotion
- supporting staff with student services responsibilities to embed effective case management processes.
- prevention and early intervention
- positive school culture and safe and supportive schools
- indirect services, for example, consultation and collaboration with school staff, families, and agency partners
- direct services, for example:
- assessment
- case formulation
- intervention targeted toward, and with, individual and cohorts of students.
School psychologists are not primary providers of clinical mental health services for children and young people.
